The third installment from executive producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, following in the footsteps of THE SEVENTIES and series THE SIXTIES, tackles 10 years shaped by exceptionalism and excess. THE EIGHTIES intersperses comments, interviews, and rare newsreel footage by journalists, historians, politicians, actors among others , painting on a picture of a couple of years. Episodes examine this of Reagan, the AIDS catastrophe at the Cold War's close, Wall Street corruption, the TV and music scene, and everything in between.
