Smash is an American musical play tv show developed by Robert Greenblatt for NBC and created by playwright Theresa Rebeck. Steven Spielberg served among many producers. The show created by Universal Television and DreamWorks Television and was broadcast in America by NBC. The show revolves around a fictional New York theatre community and the creation of a new Broadway musical. It features a large ensemble cast, directed by Debra Messing, Jack Davenport, Katharine McPhee, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Jeremy Jordan, and Anjelica Huston.
The series debuted on February 6, 2012, and its first season ended on May 14, 2012. Its final and next season premiered on February 5, 2013 and ended May 26, 2013. NBC transferred the series to Saturdays starting and announced a change in their line up in March 2013. The show was cancelled on May 10, 2013. Final and second year senior producer/show runner Josh Safran reported the last episode of year could behave like a series finale, if the show not be renewed.
The string the pilot incident, enjoyed some success. The first season received the Primetime Emmy Award one of 4 nominations for Outstanding Choreography. The show was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series -- Musical or Comedy and also a Grammy Award for Best Song.
