Based on Sakyo Komatsu's best-selling science fiction novel "Japan Sinks," published in 1973. The plot follows the fate of four Muto family members, including the protagonist girl Ayumu and her younger brother Gou, immediately following the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.
