At age 13, Ady no longer listens to his father, whom he doesn't see very often. In the end, he decides to leave Ady with his uncle Amadou for the summer because he has no more money. Amadou and his family live on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea in Burkina Faso, which is on the west coast of Africa. When you're 13 years old, you have to become a man.
