Lloyd and caroline really are a couple that is always at one another's throats, masters in crafting barbs at the other's expense. They are so enthusiastic about belittling each other they stop -- maybe not really at gunpoint. The gunman is Gus, a thief on the run from law enforcement, that kidnaps the couple within an insurance policy, intending to utilize their home. But a lot more than Gus forcing him -- for the sake of their or her own sanity -- to the position of peace maker is proven by their incessant bickering. To make things much worse to Gus, he finds that he has taken the pair hostage the night of the big Christmas party, and also the guests are on the way. Perhaps not wanting to leave Lloyd and Caroline Un-Attended, Gus chooses to attend to the celebration, and pretending to become the few marriage counselor. This naturally leads to a run of comic confusions, as worries head and the hostage tragedy towards their inevitable decision.
