This darkly humorous Italian drama about exploited manufacturing employees in Turin stars Professor Sinigaglia (Marcello Mastroianni). These workers in a textile mill have no one to speak up for them until Sinigaglia risks his academic career by helping them strike. Despite unfriendly authorities' inspection, the teacher remains committed to the workers' cause.
