Space Battleship Yamato
Five years after the Gamilons began an invasion of Earth, the entire world has been contested by the aliens' bombs. The remnants of humanity have fled underground to escape the irradiated surface. One afternoon, a capsule delivered from the planet Iscandar that tells is discovered by former pilot Susumu Kodai. The Earth Defense Force re-builds the battleship Yamato with a type of propulsion system to create the 148,000 light year trip to Iscandar. Within a year, the radiation will induce the remainder of humanity.
