Pickpocket
Michel takes up pickpocketing onto a lark and is detained immediately after. His mother dies soon after his release, as a way to enhance his craft, and despite the distrust of his mum's neighbor Jeanne, Jacques , and his only friend, Michel teams using two or three petty thieves. With a police inspector keeping an eye Michel also tries to find a right job, but the temptation to steal is hard to resist.
