After decades of laboring as a Glasgow shipbuilder,'' a no-nonsense man, Frank Redmond , suddenly finds himself laid away. For the first time in his lifetime , he is without perhaps a sense of direction or employment, and he's too proud to ask for guidance. His mates - shy Norman rascally Danny and cynical Eddie - are there for him personally , but Frank feels desperately . An off hand comment from Danny inspires Frank to challenge himself.
