Martin Freeman is lovelorn teacher Mr Maddens, an former am-dram celebrity whose girlfriend (Ashley Jensen) dumped him over Christmas five years ago and upped sticks, strangely, to lala Land. Yuletide cheer isn't his forte, but he's made to drum up some when the headmistress of Pam Ferris earmarks him to guide the Nativity play with.
