Nan and Mel are rapidly entering puberty in a Brazilian community that is overrun with piranhas. They spend their time daydreaming about ways to defend themselves from the violence that seems to be unavoidable. When a dead body of unknown origin is found entangled in a fisherman's net, the group discovers what might prove to be their best line of defense.
