On 3 April 2004, throughout the holiday of Ashura, Iraqi rebels loyal to Shiite leader Muktada As-Sadr, launched an insurgency. The Poles, together with authorities and Bulgarian soldiers, were awarded the task of protecting City Hall. The battle developed into the largest engagement. But roughly 80 insurgents were murdered in a counter attack Maybe not a single soldier expired.
