Middle-aged suburban husband Richard tells his wife, Maria, he wants a divorce. Maria meets a younger man and also loves a night out with her good friends, as Richard takes up having a younger woman. As the bunch and those round them face a futile hunt for what they've lost -- love, enthusiasm, fire -- this classic independent film explores themes of aging along with alienation.
