Francisco is wealthy, upstanding in his beliefs, and still a bachelor. After meeting Gloria by chance, he becomes instantly obsessed with the idea of her becoming his wife, and he begins courting her until she agrees to marry him. Despite the fact that Francisco is a devoted husband, his desire for his wife begins to take on troubling characteristics over time. Gloria, on the other hand, is met with skepticism when she communicates her concerns to their acquaintances.
