The nights August 24, 1944. Paris' fate is in the control of General von Choltitz, governor of Grand Paris, who is organizing, on the orders of Hitler , to blow up the funding. Even the descendent of a long line of Prussian military men, the general has never had some hesitation as it came to obeying orders. This really is exactly what's on Swedish consul Raoul Nordling's mind as he chooses the stairs which leads at the Hôtel Meurice to General von Choltitz's bundle. The bridges on the Seine and the major monuments of Paris (including the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower) are mined with explosives, willing to be detonated. Armed with all the weapons of diplomacy, the consul will attempt to convince the general never to check out the sequence of destruction of Hitler.
