You make as much money as you work, and you live on that money. This simple idea has always been a problem for Jung-cheol. At the factory where he works in the cold winter, he dreams of going to the warm Philippines in the spring, as long as he makes the boss's promised amount of soybean paste and makes it through the winter. But as hard as he tries to live, things keep getting worse. Soon, the room where the soybeans are fermenting starts to smell musty because black mold is growing on the thousands of lumps of fermented, boiled soybeans.
