In the Summer season of 1971 the Glastonbury legend was birthed when the organisers made a decision to try and produce a festival that would be a leader for an 'alternate and optimistic society'. The event encompassed Midsummer's Day, as well as in true middle ages tradition, the location of Worthy Ranch, Pilton was given over to songs, dancing, verse, theatre, spontaneous amusement as well as nudity.
