When Johnny is released from prison following a forgery charge, he lands a job at a New York diner as a cook. After having a quick fling with waitress co RA, Frankie develops an attraction for fellow waitress Frankie and Cora's friend. While Frankie interrupts the charms of Johnny , she eventually relents when her best friend, Tim, persuades her to give Johnny a chance.
